BDC – Online Meeting 14th February 2007
This, first meeting of the ADempiere Business Development Committee (BDC), was an open discussion held in the #adempiere-team IRC channel.
It was attended by; Ramiro Vergara (Ramiro), Carlos Antonio Ruiz Gómez (CarlosRuiz), Peter de Zutter (goanookie), Joel Stangeland (jsSolutions), Victor Perez Juarez (vpj-cd), Redhuan D. Oon (red1), dukai, Jerome Cader (cjerome), Mike Judd (Mike_Judd) at the end and Colin Rooney (croo).
The following are the main points from the IRC conversation.
Four topics were on the agenda for discussion:
- Lessons Learned from Recent Experiences
- BDC Objectives.
- Regional Representation.
- Contributor Acknowledgment.
Lessons Learned from Recent Experiences
This topic concerned the approach taken in response to inquiries directed to the project itself, and asked were there any lessons to be learned from how we as representatives of the Adempiere project handled these. Or indeed, general ideas on how we should approach such scenarios in the future.
- We (kind of) overwhelmed them; one or two representatives either geographically close or with relevant business experience should deal with the query.
- No rules of engagement; define the rules governing project representatives contacting prospects directly.
- We made the process harder than it had to be
- We did not act swiftly
- Poor communications both internally and with the prospect.
BDC Objectives
What is the purpose of the Business Development Committee:
- Create good experience for prospects
- Maximize Adempiere business for bazaar community members
- Provide marketing materials
- Ensure quality standards are preserved by recommended providers
Regional Representation
We need to expand the BDC to include representatives from all geographic regions. Europe and the Americas are currently well represented, but it was felt that at a minimum a representative from Asia should be added. However as, at this point in the discussion, no Asian project members were still in the discussion any decision was postponed.
Contributor Acknowledgment
The general feeling was this was an important and potentially complex topic that should be allocated a meeting to itself and so the discussion of this topic was postponed.
