Initial proposal taken from Sun

Hello, this is the first proposal for the Adempiere Contributor Agreement.

It's copied literally from Sun Contributor Agreement, which I liked primarily because of this statement:

Unlike some other contribution agreements that require you to transfer copyrights to an organization, the SCA does not take away any of your rights to your contributed intellectual property. When you agree to the SCA, you grant Sun joint ownership in copyright, and a patent license for your contributions. You retain all rights, title, and interest in your contributions and may use them for any purpose you wish.

There is a good FAQ in the sun java GPL page here http://www.sun.com/software/opensource/java/faq.jsp#g25

Hi Carlos,
I think this is a good CA. I don't see any problem there. Maybe we can copy some lines from FAQ too, because as you said, it's very good and very clear.

What if someone doesnt want to sign it? For whatever reason? And does JJ has to give us one too?

- I think that we couldn't receive contributions from people that reject to sign agreement (this is specifically to protect customers and keep project out of legal problems), anyway if someone rejects to sign a contributor agreement that is not causing any harm maybe is not a good contribution/contributor. - About JJ, we don't need agreement from JJ because the JJ's code is released with GPL, I think in this case GPL is the "contributor agreement" from Compiere. CarlosRuiz 14:53, 8 February 2007 (EST)
