Would like to seek clarification on the following matters:

  • Ownership and management of AI & COE
  • Management of fund granted to AI & COE
  • Relationship between AI, COE and ADempiere Foundation
  • What type of entity that AI & COE will be register as ? Non-profit, Commercial or others ?

  • KPerak is managing AI, COE is another idea by another party but as i said under judicial process, no names until black and white is given to us.
  • Fund mgmt is awaiting our own office which to this date is not sorted out as post Berlin shown. i.e. we have no consensus built office to take any funds other than multi-laterally and openly for now here in Malaysia. However the ADempiere Foundation as registered by Idalica can be a temporal one in case of request.
  • These are efforts going on as stated due to interest of locals i.e. myself, Dr.Azman and others whom we contacted.
  • I have been pushing for non-profit and self-sustaining all this while, but AI and COE is not mine but awaiting grants, funds from other institutions, thus we have to either learnt their decorum on this or we be educated by them.
  • Thank you alot for such queries, because they are put before me to raise during meetings with them. Now i have something published to show in an hour from now :D - Red1 22:14, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

Meeting 7 June

  • Already noted in article page.
  • Proposed program is tentative subject to KPerak acceptance of a proper detailed plan and cost from us. In principle they accepted the whole works.
  • To rephrase answer to Hengsin above, KPerak is a not for profit state govt company. And it already has its own KPerak Academy to take on our initiative. The ADempiere Institute is purely my own proposition so its still up to the Bazaar to deliberate.

Note to Presenters/Trainees

  • The audience can be segmented to the 3 groups that we are always thinking of:
    • End Users
    • Systems Integrators
    • Developers

So it is good to state which group our paper is targeted at. There will be a promotional drive via the Press and Media, so we can expect more than usual response. Now i have to start preparing more works between the parties to get it oiled well. I m thinking of going up to the state to advice more closely.

Some Context To Needs

  • This is to preemptively outline the most valuable courses, materials, or development efforts that can be supported.
  • Should be :
    • Why Open Source ERP
    • Comparisons with alternatives and TCO analysis
    • How to Implement ADempiere
    • How to modify to certain verticals (by providing actual case studies such as Logistics, Point of Sales)
    • How to be a bazaar member or ADempiere developer
    • What should be the certification process and how can we start it
    • Setting up of a reference hub, hotline or helpdesk or showroom to showcase pilots or demos
    • Other technical or tutorial papers or workshops that can be repeated as courses in an ongoing basis for the Institute

There may even be ready engagement of some of our bazaar members to provide paid consultancy right away through such presentation. Basically i look at it as more of selling ourselves and killng the 2nd bird of teaching others to be like us. Still welcome ideas as to what to think of here. - Red1 12:17, 7 June 2007 (EDT)

Development efforts can be:

  • by KPerak
    • Localisation to local accounting practice
    • proper integration of manufacturing and payroll system extension
    • Forwarder import/export and EDI formats
    • Open DB Port completion
    • Chinese localisation
    • SMI Edition

Thus papers to this effect can also be presented by our strong or relevant developers

For your info there is a budget pre-approved:

  • USD150k for development and SMI user showcase pilot implementation
  • USD150k for formulation of/and Training effort

The budget paper can consume this plus other expenses due for launch, flights etc, and then earmark another further paper to seek for more budget for next fiscal year. Our intent here is to charge at sustaining cost and not at commercial cost. We shall mitigate this fruitfully and success must be the outcome. The long term objective of this initiative is to meet national KPIs of increased adoption throughout the state and national interest to populate its training courses on ADempiere. Some of our key trainers can be permanently engage to ensure quality and ceritification.
