Thomas Bayen

about me:

I was born 1971 and got my first C64 in '83. My soul was lost and I was a citizen of cyberspace from the beginning on...

I live in Krefeld, Germany.

I used my fist GNU Tools and an emacs clone about '90 on my Commodore Amiga. From this point I was committed to open source. In 1998 I installed my first Linux system. I'm one of the longest members of the Linux User Group Krefeld and the (now stalled) Perl Mongers Niederrhein. I am a sourceforge member since about 2001.

I studied "Beverage Economics" (Getränke-Betriebswirtschaft) in Munich and from then I worked in the trading company of my family. Today I am the business executive. In my free time (Ha!) I programmed in C, ARexx, Perl and in the last years mainly in Java.

I had much disputes with people wanting to sell me ERP software but wanting to keep my data or the structure of the data as their business secret. So I could never decide to buy some of these systems. From year to year I looked around for free alternatives. In 2011 I decided it is time to join the ADempiere community and try out what will happen!

What do I want in this wiki

My first steps here will be to collect my remarks while installing ADempiere and playing around with it (at the beginning in german): TBayen/Anmerkungen.

If I find the time I would like to collect informations about TBayen/Installation with the target to get a better entrance for new Users (like I was until yesterday...). I have to do that before I loose that lost feeling I had some times.

Perhaps I could contribute to the german pages in this Wiki to attract more geramn people to ADempiere.
