Hi Carlos Ruiz, While u re away, I have moved the patches in SF to its own exclusive and single location for convenience of finding them. I m removing the previous one in the Release Package so that it doesn't obscure the standard release file. Hope it is ok with you. If not, tell me and i will revert. - Red1 21:00, 5 May 2007 (EDT)

Red1, I really didn't understand the changes you did - "KEEP CHANGING WITHOUT REAL IMPROVEMENT OF MEANING." ??? :-) You know what I'm quoting.
I find the convention of date more convenient than alphabet, we don't know how many patches are we going to release, but is very possible more than 26. And date convention is auto-ordered and immediate to know what is the latest.
About putting patch_3.2_20070505.jar besides the release is also to make visible that release is patched (IMHO) - even I was thinking initially to release patches in the same package "Adempiere 3.2.0 Mayday Edition" (that will be direct for anyone downloading the release that is already patched) - So I would prefer to keep the patches closer to the release (or even thinking now that is better in the same release)
And also (this is just for information) that is possible that in future we'll have at the same time patches for 3.2, 3.4, 4.0 and so on (similar to postgres, they are maintaining three main versions at the same time)

I think that Carlos is totally right! And btw - very good installation instructions :) Kthiemann 04:59, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
Yes, alphabet is silly and inadequate as u explained. I will do the date revert. About location, the package naming place Pacthes next door to Package. I think it look nice. Anyway will discuss further, U have final say. I was just beautifying, not changing the meaning. :D - Red1 05:53, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
Looking for a possible path for users -> Open the Release_320 page and follow the link at the end of the page. You don't notice that version is patched. Also there may be more links outside pointing directly to Adempiere 3.2.0 Mayday Edition. So, I'm now strongly convinced that patches must be kept in the same place as release, not a new package. Identifying need for patches

The process for installing patches seems clear and simple enough. My question is "how do you know if your installation needs a patch?" --Vjg 14:31, 12 January 2008 (EST)

IMHO all installations needs patches. MS, SUN, Oracle, HP those i have worked with comes with never ending stream of patches. No such thing as a 100% stable software unless it is dead and gone and useless. So my recommendation is to always read the patches section or news in the forum. - Red1 20:11, 13 January 2008 (EST)
Well of course patches are necessary things. That wasn't in question. Let me try again. How do I know what my current patch level is at at given installation? Does the release version and date on the Login dialog reflect the patch level? --Vjg 16:45, 14 January 2008 (EST)
You can subscribe to the announcement of patches release package on sourceforge. To know what patches version you have you need to read the patches.jar version of the installation - CarlosRuiz_globalqss 12:03, 22 March 2008 (EDT)

Version Conflict

I installed using the instructions provided at http://www.adempiere.com/wiki/index.php/Adempiere_Install_WinXp and then installed the newest patches using the instructions from this wiki. However, once I applied the patches, I started getting the following error message.

>> Version Conflict: Server <> Client 2007-12-05 <> 2007-50-01 Please download new version from Server <<.

I have downloaded the new client. I've also Webstarted the client but still get this message. What am I missing?

Patching questions

I don't know (please include in this doc also) how it works to patch an already patched system? Will it work?
What if a patch "goes wrong" and installs only partially?
How can I be sure if the patching was successfull?
Can I revoke a patch (I guess not, but I think should be mentioned in the docs:) )

Additional Patch Tasks

It would appear that additional patching tasks are required.

For instance in the patches for 340s there are webui.war and sqlj.jar files that are posted, but the update instructions for 340s do not include the correct process (ie. replace, or replace and do xxx).

Additionally there are no instructions on handling the migration scripts for 352a (ie do you run them all, or just the last version), and for 340s there are references to migration scripts that are safe to run, but not where to find them.

I understand 352a is a moving target and it may not be appropriate to document, but I would update the http://www.adempiere.com/wiki/index.php/Release_340s myself except I'm not sure if I know the correct process.

Adding the patches for the source

Hello everyone,

I had been wondering about this, since from the conception of the webUI. How do I add the official patches sources to my ADempiere development environment? I have set-up my development environment using this guideline: Create_your_ADempiere_customization_environment. I have also setup my webui workspace working. I then replace the old patches source folder with the new one, but when I run the tomcat servelet, the patches does not seems to showed up. Ok, I know why, since the zkwebui points to the ADempiere/zkwebui source folder. So, I tried making another set-up to let the zkwebui point to the patches/zkwebui source folder, but still, it doesn't work(not even webapp deployment takes placen as opposed to my previous set-up). So, if someone could point me out how to do this, please do so. I will surely add the extra step here Creating_WebUI_Workspace_using_Sysdeo_Tomcat_Plugin.

customization.jar and patches.jar not in CLASSPATH

Hello Carlos Ruiz,

I am new in the ADempiere community. While evaluating Create your ADempiere customization environment with 3.7.0LTS, I noticed that customization.jar and patches.jar have been deleted from CLASSPATH in RUN_Adempiere.bat since 03.03.2008.
