Dear Community

First of all, I want to apologize because I couldn’t be there. Although my mind is really next to all of you.

This Conference is a big event, and you'll do it biggest with your participation, your ideas and debates.

The first goal for this meeting has been reached: all of you can see each other. So, we have transformed ourselves from a virtual to a real community. It's for me the great significance!

When we started some months ago with the crazy idea to build an really open project, community based, surely we couldn’t imagine the success that we have now. Which is the key? Very simple for me…. the community that we have done!; each one of us, deserves this honour. And now, with this conference, our community will be more friendly and the confidence between us will grow.

Now you have the great opportunity to interchange ideas, know-how, experiencies and of course to discuss them. All debates are welcome! It’s the true community power. It’s the big difference between our project and the others. The Conference have a very good agenda, all topics are very important and all opinions too. Surely some of them will be impassioned, but this is really good! After all, we are humans, aren't we? This gathering will establish the steps to follow with the project for the time that comes. So, I believe that all the decisions from the meeting will be very important.

I’m really sure that this gathering will be a success. Please, you enjoy it!

I want to thank to Schaeffer AG, without their sponsorship this conference wouldn’t be possible. And an special thanks to Karsten for the time he took to organize it. Also, I want to thank to Red1, because he had the idea that I could write some words for being read there.

Finally, I want to request something to you: I think that the real success from the meeting will be Mr. Red1 singing a Lennon’s song. Please, can you record it? Surely it will be the next success into YouTube. I don’t want to lose it!

Thank you

Sincerely

A short message to my colleagues in Berlin.

Release early and release often, this is a phrase that has distinguished our bazaar since it was born. For some reason most of us people think that this only relates to software coding. But I think differently, Yochai Benkler already taught us that the open source principles are applicable to a whole new way of production of goods. If we are willing to accept that coding can be subject to that principle we should be open to apply the same principle to other areas.

My main concern from day one (just visit the original fork discussion) has been that we just get to the point of discussion and not to the action. ADempiere has to compete in the business market place so we have to act. Release early and release often can also be applied to the business actions we need to follow, this does not mean that we should stop discussing actions, we should and we should do it in the open as we normally do. But after sound discussion has happened there is nothing wroing in acting if acting is done preserving the bazaar principles.

If we allow that those who act are widely and unfairly criticized, the normal reaction will be for people not to act.

I hope our bazaar discussions in Berlin are productive.

Best regards

Ramiro
